Letting control of every detail and finding peace in the present and trusting that your efforts will lead to the results you desire. This allows for some of the most spontaneous, unexpected positive developments to emerge!! Stay open to the process instead of looking for guarantees. The Inner Circle: The Hidden Power Behind Your Leadership Potential

August 5, 2025 by Debra Kasowski Leave a Comment

“When we see any incredibly gifted person, it’s always tempting to believe that talent alone made him successful. To think that is to buy into a lie. Nobody does anything great alone. Leaders do not succeed alone. A leader’s potential is determined by those closest to him. What makes the difference is the leader’s inner circle.” — John C. Maxwell

Leadership is often portrayed as a solo sport—marked by bold decisions, inspiring speeches, and extraordinary vision. But if you look closely at any person who has accomplished something remarkable, you’ll find that their greatness didn’t emerge in isolation. It was cultivated, supported, and stretched by the people surrounding them.

This is the quiet power of the inner circle.

As leaders, we’re not meant to possess every skill, carry every burden, or solve every challenge alone. In fact, believing we must “do it all” can be the very thing that caps our capacity. Our true potential—both as individuals and as leaders—unfolds in collaboration. It is nurtured through aligned relationships where support, encouragement, and even gentle confrontation help us rise into who we are becoming.

Whether you’re running a business, leading a team, or guiding your own family, take a moment to examine: Who are the people closest to you? Do they reflect the values you hold dear? Do they challenge you to grow, call you forward with love, and speak truth when you’re tempted to play small?

Your inner circle is more than a group of trusted advisors or friends. They are mirrors, amplifiers, and anchors. They can reveal your blind spots, celebrate your boldest dreams, and remind you of your “why” when you forget.

From a leadership perspective, this means intentionally curating your circle—not based on comfort, but on contribution. The people closest to you should stretch your thinking, ignite your courage, and help you navigate complexity with greater clarity.

From a lifestyle lens, it also means recognizing that fulfillment doesn’t come from being the smartest or the strongest in the room—it comes from being surrounded by people who bring out your best. People who remind you that it’s not just about where you’re going, but who you’re becoming along the way.

This is where leadership gets beautifully human.

Because the truth is, we all reach higher when we climb together. We extend our capacity when we lean into the collective wisdom of those around us. And our ability to impact the world grows not just by what we know—but by who we allow into our most sacred spaces.

So, consider this your invitation:

  • Audit your inner circle.
  • Invest in relationships that grow you.

And remember—your next level isn’t reached by going it alone. It’s unlocked by those who walk alongside you, stretch your vision, and remind you of your greatness—especially on the days you forget.

Because in the end, leadership isn’t a solo act. It’s a shared symphony.

3 Reasons You Might Be Stuck – and How to Move Forward

July 10, 2025 by Debra Kasowski Leave a Comment

In my years of coaching, speaking, and walking alongside high-achieving individuals and emerging leaders, I’ve noticed that when people feel stuck, it’s rarely due to a lack of ambition. More often, it stems from internal roadblocks—habits of thought that cloud clarity and prevent progress.

Here are three reasons you might feel stuck—and what to do about them.

You’re Worried About What Other People Think

Have you found yourself saying “Yes” when you want to say “No”? Have you hesitated to share your ideas, launch your business, speak up in meetings, or pursue your dreams because you fear judgment, criticism, or rejection?

This is classic people-pleasing behavior, and it keeps you small.

“Care about what other people think, and you will always be their prisoner.” – Lao Tzu

Constantly worrying about what other people think can make you feel trapped or controlled by others. Think about this: every time you prioritize others’ opinions over your own values and goals, you delay your growth. You become reactive instead of intentional. You give away your freedom as you seek external validation, and then you adjust your course to please others based on their worldviews, rather than your own. Do you worry about what only one person thinks? No, not usually. You adjust yourself in every circle, and this can be exhausting.

Example: One client had a dream of starting a wellness coaching business, but delayed launching for years because friends told her it “wasn’t realistic.” After one mindset shift—asking, “But what do I think?”—she began building it in small steps. Now she has a thriving client base and deep fulfillment.

Coaching Question: What is one decision you’ve been avoiding because you’re afraid of what people will say? Whose opinion are you giving too much power to?

You’re Comparing Yourself to Others

Social media highlight reels and polished bios can make you feel like you’re behind. But here’s the truth: comparison kills momentum. Read that again! Comparison kills momentum.

If you’re a trailblazer, there’s no one to compare to—you’re the one creating the path.

“Comparison is the thief of joy.” Theodore Roosevelt

Example: A speaker I worked with kept delaying submitting keynote proposals because she didn’t have a viral TEDx talk. She thought she needed to look like “the pros.” But when she leaned into her authentic story—without comparison—she landed her first TEDx engagement. Everyone starts somewhere!

Coaching Question: If no one else existed to compare yourself to, what would you dare to do?

You’re Not Taking Time to Think

In a world that rewards busyness, slowing down to reflect can feel like a luxury—but it’s a necessity.

When you don’t carve out time to pause, you live in reaction mode—doing what’s urgent, not what’s important. This keeps you disconnected from your values and vision.

“Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change. And change begins with clarity.” – Jim Rohn

Example: One woman I worked with journaled for 10 minutes each morning for 30 days. During that time, she discovered what she truly wanted—to pivot her career into advocacy. The clarity came only after she gave herself space to listen inward. Your inner wisdom is very revealing.

Coaching Question: When was the last time you scheduled thinking time? What would be possible if you consistently gave yourself that space?

If you’re feeling stuck, it might not be because you’re lazy, broken, or missing a secret ingredient. It could simply be that you’re:

  1. Letting others’ opinions run the show
  2. Comparing your journey to someone else’s
  3. Not giving yourself time to reflect

The good news? These are all changeable.

  • Choose courage over approval.
  • Trust your unique journey.
  • Create stillness to design a life of intention.

You are not behind. You are exactly where you need to be—to take the next right step.

Leadership is Not a Title – It’s Legacy in Motion

July 10, 2025 by Debra Kasowski Leave a Comment

“Leadership is not about being in charge. It’s about taking care of those in your charge.”— Simon Sinek

We often think of leadership as something tied to a title, a role, or a seat at the table. But authentic leadership lives in how we show up, day in and day out — not in what we say we are, but in how we make others feel.

A title doesn’t define leadership. It’s defined by trust, vision, and the empowerment of others. It’s a legacy in motion — not a destination, but a daily practice.

Leadership Begins With Trust — and Trust is Built, Not Assumed

Trust isn’t a one-time agreement. It’s a relationship currency earned over time, in moments big and small.

Here’s how leaders — especially coach-like leaders — build that trust:

  • Be present and consistent: People trust those who show up — consistently and wholeheartedly. Follow through on what you say. Honor your word. And when things go sideways, take ownership instead of assigning blame.
  • Listen deeply: Don’t just wait to talk — listen to understand. Ask open-ended questions. Reflect on what you hear. People trust leaders who take the time to truly see and listen to them.
  • Model vulnerability: When you share your own challenges, uncertainties, or lessons learned, you give permission to others to do the same. Vulnerability isn’t weakness — it’s the birthplace of connection.

“Trust is the glue of life. It’s the most essential ingredient in effective communication. It’s the foundational principle that holds all relationships.” — Stephen R. Covey

See and Speak Into the Strengths of Others — Without Sugarcoating

As leaders and coaches, we often see strengths in others long before they see them in themselves. Speaking into those strengths is a gift, not just of encouragement, but of clarity and direction.

But this isn’t about toxic positivity or flattery. It’s about honest, grounded reflection of potential.

  • “I noticed how you stayed calm and strategic under pressure yesterday. That’s a strength — and it’s exactly the kind of leadership this team needs more of.”
  • “Your ability to draw out quieter voices in meetings is powerful. That’s a gift — not everyone can do that with such grace.”
  • “You have a way of making the complex feel simple. That clarity is a leadership trait — don’t overlook it.”

When you name a strength, you amplify it. You help people lead from it. You help them perform from their zone of genius, not just from obligation.

Bring People Into the Vision — and Make It Theirs, Too

A true vision doesn’t come from the top down. It comes alive when people see themselves in it.

Here’s how to bring people to the table and engage them in the vision:

  • Ask for their input early. Before final decisions are made, ask your team: “What does success look like to you?” “What concerns do you have about this direction?” “What excites you about where we’re headed?” When people shape the vision, they take ownership of it.
  • Connect the vision to values. Help people see how their daily work connects to something bigger than a task list. “This project ties directly to our commitment to innovation and client care. Your role is critical because…”
  • Create space for meaning. Invite stories. Ask your team what part of the mission speaks to them most. Use that as fuel, not just a strategy.

“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” — African Proverb

Empowerment Is the Natural Outcome of Trust + Vision

Once trust is built and vision is shared, people feel safe enough to stretch and brave enough to lead.

Empowerment in leadership isn’t about micromanaging or pushing people harder. It’s about unlocking potential, removing obstacles, and coaching people into their next level of leadership.

Ask:

  • What do they need to rise?
  • What resources, encouragement, or clarity will help them succeed?
  • How can you mentor them so they one day surpass you?

Authentic leadership is not just about what you build. It’s who you build.
