How Do You Start Living With Intention – By Getting F.R.E.S.H.

November 26, 2012 by Debra Kasowski 2 Comments

Do you know anyone who prepares and plans for the next day? Do you know anyone who reflects on their day and journals points of gratitude? Do you know anyone who wishes that they could stretch their day into the 25th hour? Is that someone you?

Intention living is all about planning and tracking events. Planning means preparing all the pieces you need for smooth execution of a project or task. This can be as simple as having your lunch ready in the fridge or an outfit laid out on the bed. You are ready to take on the day. Tracking is not for the purposes of comparison but to evaluate where time, money, or resources are lost. If you want something to grow you need to measure it to see if you in fact have achieved it.

Five things you can start doing today to start living with intention:

  1. Frame Your Mindset – Start right when you get out of bed. You determine what you what type of day you will have. What are the first things you say to yourself as you look in the mirror when you brush you teeth? Your words and thoughts are very powerful and can frame your mindset for your day. A self fulfilling prophecy.
  2. Record your action set steps for the day. Write down 5 action steps you would like to get done by the end of the day. They are not a “have to” but a want to and get to”. You have the choice to create the results you want with intention.
  3. Exercise your mind and body. Get physically active for 30-60 minutes a day. Increase the blood flow throughout your body and feel energizes. Some of my greatest ideas surfaced when joggin on the track at the gym. Take time to sit in silence and pray or meditate to clear your mind.
  4.  Start being proactive. You do not have to wait for the ship to come in – go out to it! Prepare your meals in advance. Plan your calendar 1-3 months in advance. Pay your bills early.
  5. Have a plan. People who have a plan of action are already half way there. Those who being their day without a plan waste much time getting out of bed and getting into action. I have some of those days too. The days I do plan in advance – WOW! it has been like a firecracker has gone off. I get so much done because I intentionally plan my day and create lists and mindmaps to keep me focused on getting to my end goal. On the days that you plan, how much do you get done?

BONUS “H”Hug more. Researchers have said that hugs can increase immunity, reduce blood pressure, and increase our survival rate. Hugs the people you love for the health of it!

Be flexible in your plans as life does throw challenges along the way. I love how Joel Osteen frames them, “Setbacks are setups for great comebacks.”

You are here to do great things so why not plan your seeds of growth intentionally – you have the choice to choose greatness!

3 Reasons You Should Be Outsourcing

September 17, 2012 by Debra Kasowski 5 Comments

Outsourcing is one of the keys to success that is often overlooked. All too often we look at projects and think,”Well I can do it faster or better.” The trouble starts when it is an area that you’re not passionate or gifted in, so why not delegate to or hire someone who is passionate and gifted in this area. Here are three reasons why you should be outsourcing:

  • Save Time. We all have the same 24 hours in a day, 168 hours in a week, and 8736 hours in a year, yet we are needing more time to get all the things we want done. How much time could you free up if you would delegate or hire someone to do your bookkeeping, housekeeping, or website maintenance? Time saved equals increased productivity and increase in your return on investment provided you target the extra time to where you need it to go. Think about what your time is worth. You could be spending extra time with your family or friends doing what you love or on revenue generating activities.
  • Increased productivity. By having others work on different projects for you, you are better able to implement many ideas or concepts at the same time because you’re not doing it all by yourself. You are better able to put your energy where you are passionate and gifted in. Outsourcing allows for innovation and focus on core strengths.
  • Save money. When you realize how much your time is worth, does the time it takes you to finish a certain project equal the time that you could be focused on revenue generating activities? Chances are you would make more money by delegating projects or formatting of documents to someone who has this expertise and can get it done in a timely manner. I know you may be thinking how am I saving money by spending money, but there are many resources that are not as costly as you might think.

Some outsourcing freelance sites that I have personally used include: www.guru.com, www.odesk.com, and www.fiverr.com.

Outsourcing can help you grow your business and expand your markets that you otherwise might not have the time to get to.  When you grow and expand your markets , you can get more clients and make more money . outsourcing enables you to serve people on a much bigger level.  The question is, “Are you ready to play bigger?”

July 4, 2012 by Debra Kasowski 12 Comments

Time is one of those areas that many of us take for granted one day or another. Have you ever tried tracking your time?  I have. Have you ever had some tell you where you could fit in a healthy meal or some exercise? I have. Have you ever challenged yourself to see what you could get done in 20 minutes? I have. Imagine what you could do in twenty minutes.

What would your business be like if you did the following for twenty minutes here or twenty minutes there?

  • Write a blog or an article.
  • Read a book on a subject area you are trying to learn more about.
  • Follow up with 1-2 potential clients.
  • Write out thank you cards.
  • Plan your day for tomorrow or the next day.
  • Spend 20 minutes connecting with your staff or team.
  • Map out a calendar of tweets, blog posts, or Facebook posts.

What would your health be like if you spent twenty minutes focusing on your health?

  • Go for a walk or doing some super sets of weights at lunch time.
  • Plan your meals for the day.
  • Take time to listen to music or read a good book.
  • Sit in a relaxing bath.
  • Call a friend.

What would your relationships look like if you focused on the people you cared most about?

  • Read a bedtime story.
  • Play a game of soccer or allowed your child to take shots on you in goal.
  • Listen to the events of their day.
  • Watch their favorite show with them.
  • Spend time doing what your spouse or partner likes to do.
  • Play a board game.

Twenty minutes here and twenty minutes there adds up quickly and compounded over time can yield amazing results. Empowered engaged teams, better health, and stronger relationships are a few of the outcomes. Think about what you can do in 20 minutes. There is so much you can accomplish. Set a timer for yourself if you are worried. You may enjoy yourself so much and get immerse in what you are doing you may just continue.
