Do You Know Where Your Next Client Is Coming From?

October 12, 2015 by Debra Kasowski Leave a Comment

Are you too busy doing activities that do not serve you? Are you hiding behind the computer because the thought of networking makes you queasy? Do you think networking is a waste of time? Maybe, you thought if you built your business, product or service, the people would come. Sorry to disappoint you but people do not just come.

Your friends and family may have been your first customers. You may even feel that the well has dried up and you do not know where your next client is going to come from. The problem here is that you do not have a plan.

You need to have a plan. People need to learn about you and what you offer. You have to build the know, like, and trust factor. People have to get to know and like you before they will trust you with their money. Studies have shown on average it takes about 7-9 touches or contacts with a person before they will do business with someone. For some people, it takes up to 25 times. It takes even longer before they will refer someone from their circle of friends or colleagues.

Think about how you size up people and situations before you do business with them. Chances are that once you have built the relationship with them you have no problem doing business with them or referring others to them.

There are many ways to attract the ideal client. Networking events are only one of the ways to get the word out about your product or service. These events are a great way to meet new people. The most common downside I see when going to networking events is people tend to gravitate to people they already know. I challenge you to introduce yourself to three people you do not know. Find out what they do. Share what you do. Ask questions to learn more about what they do and learn more about them. You may offer a complimentary gift such as a sample or session for people to trial you. If you are not leveraging networking opportunities, you are giving money to your competition. If you do not serve your customer, someone else will.

People crave face to face connections and conversations. Live events are the best way to create those connections and get the conversations started. Networking events are a gathering of people for a common purpose. The ice breaker has already been established. You already have a relevant theme to talk about.

Live event ideas to meet your next client:

  • Chamber of Commerce events
  • Professional associations
  • Women’s Groups
  • Trade/Industry Associations
  • Rotary, Lion’s, and Kiwanis
  • Alumni associations
  • Sporting events
  • Business Mixers
  • Volunteer Opportunities
  • Conferences
  • meetup.com
  • Classes and workshops

Get out where the people are. Live events are only one way to meet your next client. Do not discount your everyday interactions in the grocery line or bank line up, at the gym or at your child’s school. Do the people you interact with know what you do? If not, here is an opportunity you are missing out on. Do not forget to leverage your social media interactions and check out Kijiji, Craigslist, Eventbrite, and Meetup.com for ways to connect with like-minded people.

Before you know it, you will be connected with several individuals. Now, you need to follow up and continue to build and nurture these relationships. Find out what their goals are and how you can help them. Zig Ziglar said, “You can get everything you want in life if you will just help enough other people get what they want.” When you do this consistently, you will not have to worry about where your next client will come from.

Where did you get your clients from?

What Is It Costing You Not to Take the Leap?

August 20, 2013 by Debra Kasowski Leave a Comment

It amazes me that so many people say they want to pursue their dreams but money tends to be their biggest obstacle. I often wonder if it is truly an obstacle or an excuse to avoid going after what they really want.

Don’t get me wrong! There have been times that I have said that I didn’t have the money to pursue something but I quickly learned that the more that I focused on scarcity, the more scarce money was.

The more I focused on abundance, the more abundant my life became.

I know there may be times that you wonder if your business is even going to grow.

You also may think that any money you have coming in must be infused back  into your business.  You may even be frustrated that you have been implementing and acting on specific tasks but continue to feel stuck.  You may even think to yourself,   “How am I ever going to get ahead?”

If you’ve ever asked yourself the question, the best advice I could give to you is to hire a coach or a mentor to help hold you accountable  for taking specific actions steps that lead to your greatest return on investment .

When you invest in yourself , you are also investing in your business.

The return on your investment  can mean making more money, attracting more clients , greater happiness , more joy , and greater confidence .  Some results can be measured whereas other results can be felt and shared with others.

What is it costing you to not take a leap of faith ?  Set your priorities for your business and spend your time money and resources where it matters .

I have learned from my own business coach and others that many of us would rather choose a life of convenience, and yes that includes the grocery store and prepackaged foods and salads that cost significantly a lot more that if you prepared it yourself .

You need to put your money and your time where you feel it will matter most.

Once I made the decision to grow my business my way with the help of a coach and mentors. The money I needed seem to appear when I needed it. Perhaps I was more conscious of the choices I made about where my money went and used my skills to make the additional money I needed to make things happen.

Are you willing to do what it takes? – Put aside all excuses and just do it!

Imagine creating the life of your dreams by investing in yourself so that you can gain the confidence and the courage to take the next steps in your business to profit and prosper . What does that look like for you ?

Remember you can try and learn everything by yourself or you can have others who have experience and education to help you get ahead. Ask for guidance.

I know many people who invest in a personal trainer to get the physical results they want. Many others invest in a financial planner. Not every small business owner, invests in an advisor, coach, or mentor to help set them up for success but those who do receive infinite returns.

Save your money so you can invest in yourself and business.

Consider getting a part-time job to supplement your work so you can fund your dreams. The situation is temporary but your dream will last forever.

Would you regret not taking action and going after your dream if you knew you could had it if you only took ACTION?

If you are ready to take the next step, find a coach that resonates with you.

Develop the Can-Do Attitude that Attracts Clients

July 25, 2012 by Debra Kasowski Leave a Comment

Have you ever met someone who has a can do attitude? Have you ever asked someone to do complete a task and they said, “I can do it.”? Have you ever wished more people knew how to cultivate this attitude? The “can-do” attitude seems to be a lot rarer than we think but can accelerate your business in a big way.

Do you know any “can-doers?” in your life? We have a lot to learn from them.

Can-doers:

  • enjoy helping others
  • are confident
  • thrive on the personal challenge of taking on a task
  • look beyond obstacles and see the big vision – the end result
  • solution-focused
  • are optimistic
  • focus their mind on getting things done
  • are good at planning out and preparing their next move
  • are willing to risk making a mistake for they know that they will learn in the process

How does a can-doer attract more clients? Why would you hire a can-doer? First of all, they are enthusiastic about taking on the challenge of serving you. Secondly, they usually have a track record of success because they are confident in their abilities. Thirdly, a can-doer radiates an energy you cannot help but want to be around.

How can you develop your can-do attitude? Believe in what you offer your clients. You might be saying to yourself – but of course I do otherwise I would not be in business. I have met people who are in business but they do not fully believe in what they are selling or they lack confidence in themselves and their ability to sell their product. Learn about your product. Speak passionately about your product or service when speaking to to others. Offer your client solutions to the problems they may be encountering. Discuss the possibilities – will it save them more time, help them live a healthier lifestyle, or get things done. Take a leap of action and own your attitude – take responsibility for your actions steps and adjust as you go.

The attitude you chose each day makes a difference. Those who make a difference say “I can!” Will you?

How does one’s attitude affect what you do?
